Energy Labelling of Homes for Sale
Pilot programs for the energy labelling of homes at the point of sale
have already begun throughout BC. The intent of this is to provide
the prospective purchaser with information regarding the energy
efficiency of the home, the associated running costs, and where
improvements can be made. Having seen these programs running elsewhere,
it is generally accepted that homes with a higher Energuide rating tend
to be worth more, hold their price and will be easier to sell.
Currently, in BC, if a house is bought that has had an energy
evaluation performed, and has had a report issued, then the purchaser
would be able to take advantage of the current
LiveSmart BC grants
to improve the house.
Ray Smith, Certified Energy Advisor, can perform an energy evaluation
in the Kootenay region of BC for the low cost of $150 plus tax.
Travel costs may apply for locations outside of the Creston Valley.
